    Coastal navigation course (ASA 105) The ASA 105, Coastal Navigation workshop offers advanced chart navigation instruction and prepares students to successfully complete the certification exam. Areas of study include chart reading, tidal current determination, dead reckoning, position fixes, running fixes, danger bearings, set and drift problems, and more. Explain the chart symbols and conventions on U.S. nautical charts in accordance with the terminology of Chart #1. 2. Identify a source of official U.S. Coast Guard navigation publications. 3. This course allows you to skipper in the US and leads to the ASA's International Proficiency Certificate which lets you skipper in most popular European countries! You are strongly encouraged to form a crew of at least 4.
